We're looking after baby birds again...

This time it's a baby turkey that seemed to hatch ahead of the others. Mum's not interested, so we set up an emergency beanie ward with a light to keep it warm. Actually, we put the beanie into a box because we didn't want the little guy to wriggle off the table. It survived overnight and is very chirpy this morning. :)

Hi Barb,
I had turkeys as a kid. I used to give them chopped up onion and hard boiled eggs so they didn't get pneumonia but they were a bit older than this little guy. Good luck rearing it. Also they get mud balls on their toes which need to be picked off otherwise they can't walk properly.
Cheers

Oh, poor little chick. I hope it thrives.

Noreen, I'm sorry I missed your answer here. Luckily our baby turkeys have survived and they've been joined by a duckling from the same nest!!!
